For small and medium-sized enterprises and events
The EcoCompass certificate demonstrates a commitment to continuously improving and complying with the 10 criteria of EcoCompass.
EcoCompass is based both on the respective Nordic environmental management systems and on international standards on environmental management. The forces behind EcoCompass are the cities of Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen, as well as HSY, HSL and Helen.
Cooperation between the Nordic countries – national environmental management standards.
In their respective countries, the organisations Swedish Environmental Base, EcoCompass in Finland and Eco-Lighthouse in Norway, manage and develop national environmental management standards. These standards are based on the founding principles of international environmental management standards ISO 14001 and EMAS but they are designed for small and medium sized enterprises as well as large organizations. The last couple of years the countries have also developed methods for sustainable events.
Throughout the last 10 years our organizations have kept in touch and we have also periodically cooperated on various projects. The three Nordic organizations share common interests on a Nordic level, cooperate in projects and share information and experiences in order to further develop our systems.
